Monetizing Your Facebook Group
Have you seen these new Facebook subscription groups floating around Facebook? The idea is that, it’s just like an ordinary group on Facebook, however, you will be a paid member, if you join. Pretty cool, right? So what do paid members get? How much does it cost? Is it worth it? Keep reading to get all the details on these new Facebook subscription groups.
Facebook Subscription Groups-What are They?
According to Facebook, you can pay to join a subscription group and access exclusive content like live videos, expertise and mentorship opportunities. To become a member of a subscription group, you will pay a monthly subscription fee purchased through the iTunes Store, Google Play Store or Facebook Payments.
Simple enough, right?
So, how do YOU make money from Facebook subscription groups? By starting your own!
Think about it. If you start a subscription group or multiple subscription groups, you can monetize it through the number of members that join.
A 2,000 group size (a modest-sized group), charging members $10 each would be $20,000/month!
Some of the biggest groups have 10K to 100K members. Can you imagine?
So, how do you come up with group ideas? Content? etc.?
How Can You Join?
Ok, so this is how it works. First, in order to join, you must be a member of an existing group which has a subscription group turned on by the admin.
Follow these steps to become a member:
- Go to Your News Feed and click Groups in the left menu (click on an existing group).
- Search for a post that says Join Group and click it. Then click Join Subscription Group.
- Input your payment details and click Subscribe.
Note: This feature will not be available to all groups.
Creating Your Facebook Subscription Group
At the time of this writing, Facebook is not taking a cut of the profits. If they decided to, they’d be getting a chunk of the over 1 billion members that utilize the platform.
So, if you have the option to create a subscription group, take advantage, while you still get 100% revenue.
First, map out an outline.
Think about what you want the group to be about:
- What will the theme be?
- What is the most useful information that members will want to pay for?
- What kind of content will you produce?
- Will there be Facebook Live’s that you publish?
- How often will you put out content?
Ask these questions and more. Then, head to Facebook to start building the group.
Facebook subscription groups are open on a very limited basis so far so unfortunately there aren’t many behind the scenes looks or screenshots I can show you.
I can tell you that these groups came out in Summer 2018. I received my first invitation to join one today, about 5 months later.
The bottom line? This new feature Facebook subscription groups is going to be a total game changer. Become an early adopter and take advantage of monetizing Facebook groups. The whole point of this is to add more value so this is not a get rich quick scheme or a way to mooch off your group. You want to provide better content with more value and these new Facebook subscription groups will help you get there.
